Mylani says: This song is off of KAT-TUN's latest (3rd) album, called Queen of Pirates. I really don't know why they decided to name the album that, but oh well... Even though I'm not especially fond of the group itself, I do really like their music ^^ This song is also the theme song for the jdorama "Tokkyu Tanaka 3 Go", which starred KAT-TUN's Tanaka Koki, Tsukamoto Takashi, Kato Rosa, and Kuriyama Chiaki. It's an extremely sweet song but is extremely high energy with lots of great guitar and a great beat.

ON/OFF - ふたつの鼓動と赤い罪 (Two Beats and Red Sin)

Mylani says: This is the opening theme to the anime Vampire Knight, which started airing at the beginning of April 2008. ON/OFF is a jpop group that recently debuted and is made up of a cute pair of twins, Sakamoto Naoya (older, slightly thinner, parts his hair on the left, lower voice) and Sakamoto Kazuya (younger, rounder jaw, parts his hair on the right, slightly higher voice) who are also actors. Like the anime, the song is dark but comes together really well and the twins sound great. The anime is fascinating and we're having a lot of trouble waiting a week between episodes... It is due to come to the US in 2009 or 2010!

Ry:dia - 落チ行ク日々(Falling Days)

Okata says: Formed in December of 2006, this visual kei band consists of vocalist Rio, Guitarist Taka, Bassist Masaki, Keyboardist Soh, and Drummer Kouki. This song is off of the album 春風に乗って/落チ行ク日々(Harukaze ni Notte/Ochiyuku hibi) and is definitely the kind of song that captures one’s ear with a layered introduction. The song starts off with the echoes of a violin that breaks into leveled riffs from the bass guitar, which is enveloped by an operatic soprano before the vocalist Rio starts to sing. It is a very interesting song, which makes it even sadder that the group decided to disband January of this year after the live at Ikebukuro CYBER.

Mylani says: Our guest rotator Helikoppter introduced us to this Taiwanese rock band and we've loved them ever since, hee hee ^^ This song is their newest release and has been looped almost continuously since my sister stumbled across it... The song is about the support a girl provides him, as if she is the sun that gives life to his hopes and dreams, giving him wings to soar. Beautiful lyrics, my crappy translation kind of slaughters it, but hopefully you'll get the idea. It's a really really good song, has a bit of an old-fashioned flair to it.

Mylani says: This song is from Jay Chou's movie "Secret" from last year. We finally had a chance to see it when we went to see our godsister and godbrother, although for some reason we ended up fast-forwarding through a lot of it with our godsister summarizing xD In any case, Jay Chou also wrote the title song and mixes his traditional beautiful piano music with some nice haunting bells and some great sounding electric guitar.

蕭敬騰 - 王子的新衣 (Jam Hsiao - Prince's New Clothes)

Okata says: Before the release of his self-titled debut album, 萧敬腾 (Jam Hsiao) had already made a name for himself within the Taiwanese entertainment industry. A shy, introverted guy in every other aspect, when he sings, there is no trace of that shyness or sense that anything is holding him back, as when he sings, it is as though he completely transforms. His voice is not only powerful, but commanding and versatile. Born in 1987, Jam Hsiao demonstrates to his listeners that though he is very young, he possesses a talent that rivals seasoned singers. At the of 15, he started to teach himself how to play the keyboard and also started experimenting with the various musical styles that we hear in his album. The song "王子的新衣" is likened to the same singing style that skyrocketed him into stardom and a testimony of his pure talent.

Okata says: In his first solo album released the 11th of this month, 알렉스 (Alex) mixes the musical genres of what made him well-known and respected within the entertainment industry since Clazziquai's debut in 2002. Each track features a either a perfect fusion of use of lounge, electronica, ballad, and jazz coupled with the soft and captivating timber of Alex's voice. This particular song is the 8th track on the album and it features female artist whale. The song takes listeners through a "musical lesson," where you can tell it is being sung while he is smiling.

Okata says: Created as a project group in 2004 by 김진호 (Kim Jin-ho) of SG 워너비 (SGWannabe), who participated in only the 1st and 2nd album as a guest singer and the lead vocalist of the group 손준혁(Sohn Joon-Hyuk) in 2004, early on M to M was known for their songs that were used in many drama series such as “Magic” and “Princess Loo Loo.” In addition to lead vocalist Sohn Joon Hyuk, the group also consists of 김선태 (Kim Sung Tae) and 쵀정환 (Choi Jeong Hwan), who debuted as formally being a part of the group with the release of their second album in 2005. After being on hiatus for two years, the group came back in 2007 with their third album The Colorful Voices, which features renowned composers like 김도훈 (Kim Do Hoon), 민명기 (Min Myung Ki), and 조영수(Jo Young Soo) who created hits for artists like SGWannabe, 이기찬 (Lee Ki Chan), and 씨야 (See Ya). According to various sources, the 못된남자 (Evil Man), which is the 5th track on the album, when it was released, it immediately topped charts immediately despite the fact that there was no promotion done for the song. It is one of those songs that you like as soon as the song starts. This song is without a doubt, brilliantly executed and highly nostalgic.

Okata says: The layered movie drama, รักแห่งสยาม (The Love of Siam) is a story that centers on family trials and controversial romantic themes of love and loss. This song captures the theme of a first love that is deemed controversial by societal standards due to the fact that it is between two boys. The song is sung by actor and singer Witwisit Hiranyawongkul "Pitch" who plays plays Mew, the leader of the up and coming boy band August, who writes this song inspired by his childhood friend, Tong played by model turned actor Mario Maurer. If taken out of the context of the movie and taken in for what it is, listeners will hear from the lyrics how much it talks about the kinds of feelings that are felt from a first love: feelings of being unsure, immaturity, and hope. This song seems to provide the pure, innocent feelings of a first love and is sung in a way that is very sincere and real.

VAMPS - LOVE ADDICT
Mylani says: VAMPS is a new project featuring a collaboration between L'Arc~en~Ciel's HYDE and K.A.Z. The label is HYDE's, called VAMPROSE, also houses another band that HYDE produces, called Monoral. K.A.Z was the guitarist from bands Gemmy Rockets as well as The Lovers before forming his own band, Oblivion Dust. He was also the guitarist for Hide with Spread Beaver, formed by X Japan member Hide. He also collaborated with L'Arc~en~Ciel's Tetsu for his solo projects and wrote several songs for HYDE in his solo project, including "Season's Call". He was also in a band with Tsuchiya Anna called Spin Aqua. The song is very catchy and features HYDE's amazing voice... And the video is great because HYDE gets to vamp out with fangs and red eyes, hee hee ^^

Okata says: Having recently debuted, 19-year old 王若琳 (Joanna Wang) offers a very new and refreshing musical style to the Taiwanese entertainment industry. Signed under Sony BMG, her music can be best classified under jazz, blues and folk music. She not only plays the piano, but she also plays the guitar, which she is already well-known for because she is left handed. Having spent part of her life in the United States, according to various sources, she draws a lot of her musical inspiration from artists like Billy Joel and from fellow left handed guitarist Paul McCartney. She sings the opening and ending theme song for the 20-series drama 我在墾丁*天氣晴 (Wayward Kenting) starring well known actors 阮經天 (Ethan Ruan Jing Tian) and 彭于晏 (Eddie Peng). This song “Because you love me” is a song about how being in love changes your entire outlook on life. The lyrics are sung to scenes of the movie, showing the heart aches, the misunderstandings, and the happiness of love. The singer says that being loved by someone else has created epiphanies about what love is, what life is, and how it is meant to be.

Mylani says: This was my favorite song off of SS501's single Deja Vu because it was just so poppy and fun, hee hee ^^ The background music sounds like a an old school video game xD This video is a remixed version of this song, less video game sounding but still lots of fun ^^ All 5 of the boys are in separate small skit scenarios. Leader 현중 is a bartender, Baby 형준 is a guy with a cool sports car, 규종 is a bodyguard (?), 영생 is in a library, and 정민 is an invisible guardian angel ^^ It's super cute and fun and you can tell that all 5 are enjoying themselves (and look great doing it!), even if things don't turn out the way they want ^_^
